How can I make good homemade espresso?

Question by waterbottleoflove: How can I make good homemade espresso?
I own a personal espresso machine (the type that costs around 40 bucks). When I make espresso, it comes out tasting all bitter and burnt. How can I make good homemade espresso with this machine? Is it even possible?

what’s the difference between espresso and coffee grounds?

Question by sky b: what’s the difference between espresso and coffee grounds?
is there much difference? I made cappuccino with coffee grounds and it tastes pretty good, but the coffee grounds ended up in my cappuccino. Are coffee grounds smaller than espresso grounds-is that why theys snuck through the filter?

Answer by Lorenzo
Espresso grind is the finest. Other coffee makers use a coarser grind. Unless your machine is malfunctioning, I expect your problem is in your grinder. (Or the store’s grinder.) Burr grinders are best for giving an even grind. Most electric blade grinders give you boulders and dust. It’s the dust is making its way through your filter.

Is it okay to fill an espresso machine with milk instead of water?

Question by Coffee Jerk: Is it okay to fill an espresso machine with milk instead of water?
If I fill the water compartment of my espresso machine with milk instead of water will it clog/ruin the machine?

I’m not talking about the frother, which is used to frothe milk. I’m talking about the water compartment that you put water in, which makes steam, which makes espresso. Anyone who’s ever owned an espresso machine will know what I’m talking about. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks!
has anyone actually done it?
